Canon 400D, 450D or 1000D? Which one to buy?

1000D is an interesting DSLR of Canon Digital SLR family. It is released to regain the advantage in beginner / starter level DSLR market. 1000D is an interesting camera; because it has some abilities better than 400D even it is a lower tier camera. In the same time 450D is slightly better than 1000D. So deciding which one to buy can get confusing.

Pros:

1. High quality images.

2. High Resolution (12.2 Mpixels)

3. Live View is quite accurate.

4. Lens Kit comes with Anti Shake System (Image Stabilizer)

Cons:

1. Live view is not as fast as Sony A350

2. Screen is fixed. (Sony A350‘s screen can tilt up and down)

What are the Differences Between 400D and 450D (Rebel Xti and Xsi)?

1. Megapixels and Resolution

400D (Rebel Xti) is 10 megapixels while 450D is 12 megapixels. Which means 450 D is able to capture higher resolution images. This is an advantage if you want to print large pictures.

2. Storage

450D (Rebel Xsi) stores the images in SD card but 400D uses CF (Compact flash) card. Actually it is not an advantage in my opinion. Ok, SD cards are smaller than CF cards but CF cards can reach higher transfer speeds.

3. Live View

Canon made an improvement in 450D and placed a Live View system in it. So you don’t have to use the viewfinder all the time. This ability of 450D may come in handy in some conditions, night and low light shots for example. Unfortunately 400D doesn’t have this feature.

4. Kit Lens

Basically both kits come with the standard 18-55mm lens of Canon but with a difference. Producers decided to integrate an image stabilizer system in standard 18-55mm lens that comes with 450D. This system may be helpful for avoiding camera shakes. Again 400D doesn’t have this feature.

5. Conclusion

There are no major differences. Having Live View and Image Stabilizer can be useful but still you can live without them.If you have a limited budget don’t beat up yourself. Remember there are some people out there who have a strong passion for photography and they are using 30 year old manual film cameras because they can not afford to buy a new digital SLR. So i wish you are not in such condition. Please do not forget; photography is not about having the best camera, it is about passion, creativity and effort.si,

Cameras; Rebel Xsi 450D, 30D , 40D

Yesterday i got an e-mail asking my opinion about buying Rebel Xsi (450D). Well it is a tough question, but i’ll try to answer it.

I never used 450D or Rebel Xsi but i read about it a lot. It seems it is quite better than other cameras of the series (Digital Rebels). It has Dust Control System, Lİve LCD screen and it is 12 Mega-Pixels. Plus it is light and compact also it comes with a lens with image-stabilizing ability. I think it is a good deal, but considering it’s price it is so close to more professional cameras like 30D and 40D.

The average price difference between Rebel Xsi (450D) and 30D is $100, and between Rebel Xsi (450D) is $250. If you can afford a Rebel Xsi (450D), you probably can afford 30 D and 40 D too. These cameras are semi-professional, unlike Rebel Xsi (450D). They are faster than Rebel Xsi and have higher ISO speeds are available. Their fastest shutter speed is 1/8000 second, and highest ISO value is 3200, these values for Rebel Xsi (450D) are 1/4000 second and ISO 1600.

Both of these cameras are good, and preferable. But if you ask my opinion about these three, i’ll pick 40D.
