Accidents do happen, don’t worry. If you dropped your camera into the water or if you are planning to drop your camera into the water
i have some tips for you. But the most important tip first;
[ad#content2]
DO NOT DROP YOUR CAMERA INTO THE WATER; Carry it carefully, if you have a DSLR be even more careful and always wear the strap of your camera around your neck.
But as i said unfortunately, accidents do happen. If you dropped your camera into the water, you can still save your camera. Just fallow these steps
1. Don’t panic! Get the camera out immediately
2. Remove the Batteries; First thing remove your batteries. Batteries damage the camera and its electrical system by doing short circuits caused by water. Water form bridges between conductors in the camera and create unwanted short circuits. If you dropped the camera in salt water like sea or ocean, it is harder to save your camera. Because salt increases conductivity in the water.
3. Remove the Memory Card; And transfer your files (pictures) to computer once it is dry. But not use the camera for transferring the pictures, use a card reader.
*
4. Dry the Camera, Battery(s) and Memory Card; Use a towel or a piece of cloth.
5. Wait; Leave the camera somewhere warm and wait for at least one week.
6. Turn on the Camera; When its all dry, pop the battery(s) back in. It should work, it oftenly works…
*At this point you may consider taking it to service and it can be a reasonable choice. But remember it will cost you some money. However some services do not agree to fix the equipment that contacted with liquids.
If it doesn’t work, I’m sorry for your camera, but i or anybody else cannot offer miracles. I hope you never experience such thing.
