What is Glamour Photography?

Glamour Photography is a genre of photography that focuses on model as a subject. The main purpose is produce the most physically appealing picture of the model or subject. To do so, Make-up, various cosmetics, lighting, retouch etc. techniques are used by photographer.

Often subject of glamour photography recognized as semi-nude models. Glamour photography takes half naked models as subject but main aim is creating the most appealing image of the person. There can also be glamour pictures without nudity. However magazines like Playboy, FHM etc. that publish a lot of glamour photography examples are the reason why people generally accommodating glamour photography with nudity. I’m not saying that Glamour photography doesn’t take nudity as subject, it does, indeed most of the good examples of glamour photography include half naked models in them. But it is not an obligation, it is not a rule plus the genre of photography that takes nudity as the main subject is Nu (Nude) Photography not Glamour Photography. You can also take glamour pictures without nudity. The main goal of Glamour Photography, showing beauty and appeal the model.

What is the difference between fashion photography and glamour photography?

Subject of fashion photography is clothing and other fashion items while subject of glamour photography is the model (person). Fashion photography shows the beauty and harmony of the clothes and other accessories, Glamour photography shows the beauty of the model.
